Goats Invade Spokane Landscaping Company

Cascading Creations Head Ensures Residents No Swath of Destruction Forthcoming; “They Faint”

Airway Heights, WA: Around Airway Heights, Laverne and Shirley aren’t sassy TV characters. They’re goats that have unexpectedly appeared on the grounds of Cascading Creations, (http://www.cascadingcreations.com) a Spokane area landscaping and landscaping supplies company. Since their arrival, the goats have stuck to their instincts, climbing stones and other raised spots, including new water features – examples of Cascading Creations’ hardscaping design skills – across the premises.

Company owner Monte Tareski has adopted the goats as mascots, joining his dogs as familiar sights to his clients. While Mr. Tareski would not be forthcoming about the goats’ mysterious arrival, he’s known throughout the community for his sense of humor.

“Do we have goats? I believe the video evidence speaks for itself,” said Mr. Tareski, referring to footage at the company’s YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/CascadingCreations. “They’re our mascots all right. I mean, what else are we going to do with them now that they’re here?”Mr. Tareski assures visitors that the goats are well behaved.“They’re well-mannered for goats. They faint, too, and that helps. Actually, it’s a temporary paralysis of the legs induced by surprise. So far, my experiments in sneaking up on them and making ridiculous noises have all been successful in causing this reaction. This should prevent a potential goat rampage.

Xeriscaping? What’s That?

One of our newer and growing Spokane area landscaping services is called xeriscaping: an unusual, newfangled word for an old idea. Xeriscaping is a form of low impact environmentally conscious landscaping centered on water conservation. This is ideal for the climate around Spokane, which can be dryer than one might think given that it’s in the Pacific Northwest. Xeriscaping is also ideal for land that’d been depleted by overuse, or which is recovering from recent changes in the surrounding landscape, such as water diversion or the recent alteration of a nearby hardscape.

Xeriscaping has many different aspects – there’s no one “trick” to conserving water effectively. These include:

Low Water Plants: Cacti, warm-season grass and other water-saving plants such as agave and juniper require far less hydration than many traditional garden favorites, and wisely arranged they can look even better, because their colors blend with the environment – they’re adapted to the land. Low water plants also help maintain the shape of your xeriscape as their root systems help fend off erosion.

Runoff Conservation: In traditional landscaping you pay attention to runoff to avoid unwanted flooding, pooling and soil erosion. Xeriscaping controls runoff paths to ensure that every drop helps support the total landscape. That means we plan landscapes accordingly so that runoff will flow down to the plants that need it.

Wise Turf: Grass is one of the biggest water sinks around. A Xeriscape uses runoff and proper plant selection to minimize this, but it also looks at designing the overall space to require as little turf as possible by incorporating hardscaping for high traffic areas and eliminating wasted, inaccessible patches of turf, such as those in the corners of many gardens.

More: Xeriscaping is about using creative methods to minimize water consumption, and is constantly evolving as people develop new ideas about how to do that. One of the pleasures of doing this kind of work isn’t just in being environmentally conscious either. Xeriscapes are beautiful, and we take pride in designing examples that look as good as any traditional landscaping job.

It’s Landscaping Season around Spokane!

That’s right: Warm weather means Cascading Creations will move into high gear performing Spokane landscaping and hardscaping jobs. That’s not to say we were idle during the winter; in fact, we did lots of snow removal while we finished off the final phase of putting together GardenStone Creations’ stone engraving business.

We anticipate high demand not only because we are totally cool, good and what we do and fun to work with, but because these days, people are thinking more of improving the homes they have than “trading up” for a better house. While the real estate market recovers, we’re there adding value to homes with hardscaping and water features, including retaining walls, fountains, patios and more. Plus, winter and spring rain leave wear and tear, and now’s the time for us to finish demolition and landscaping site cleanup jobs.

We’re pros; we can get your job done fast and in such a way that it blends seamlessly into the surrounding environment. If you want to do it yourself, however, we have a couple of great options available.

First, get your stuff from our landscaping materials yard. We have a huge variety of materials including stone, driftwood, and fertilizer (or as we like to call it, “crap” – it’s good fertilizer, that’s just where it comes from). The yard is right beside our offices and GardenStone Creations, so we’ve got everything from the heavy stuff you need for landscaping to stone engravings and garden décor from local artisans, all in one location. Use it all to create the perfect space.

Second, if you’ve always wanted to get giant machines to do your bidding, we can help you. Become a landscaping customer helper and you’ll be able to operate our heavy equipment in your own landscaping job, under close supervision to make sure that you’re not only safe and sound, but will do a great job on as much or as little of your landscaping as you want.
