Spokane Area Home & Garden events.

Fri-Sun, April 3-5 - Home & Garden Show at Spokane's new convention center. Fri: noon-9pm, Sat: 10am-8pm, Sun: 10am-5pm. Come get new ideas for your upcoming remodel or new landscape, or just to learn more about what you have now.

Saturday, April 11, 10am-3pm - North County Chipping and Composting Event at Fire Station 49, Hwy 395 & Monroe Road. Kids, come and meet Smokey the Bear! Bring in your natural vegetation for free chipping/disposal.* Attend a seminar on composting and you can receive a free home compost bin (one per household-bring ID). You can also learn about protecting your home from wildfires and find out about the new outdoor burning rules.

*The following items will not be accepted for chipping: branches over 3" wide and 6" long, stumps, root balls, soil, lumber, or trash. Please bring a shovel or pitchfork to help us unload your debris.

Saturday, April 25, 11am-2pm--Arbor Day Fair at Finch Arboretum. Attend composting seminars and get a free recycled compost bin at the end (one per household-bring ID). There are also worm bins for the kids to check out. Other local organizations will have booths and there will be a tree planting. Call the recycling hotline at 625-6800 for more info.

Saturday, April 25, 10am-3pm--Master Gardener Open House at the County Extension Education Office on Havana--next to the fairgrounds. Education clinic open for questions with many free publications. Plant sale, yard and garden sale, and displays and demonstrations throughout the building. Special features include cooking demonstrations, a gardening activity room for the kids, and tickets for raffle prizes with a horticulture theme are available. Refreshments are provided. Sunday, April 26, 11am-3pm - Earth Day Celebration at Riverfront Park. There will be live music and educational booths at the event. Bring the kids to the EnviroKids' Club booths to participate in many hands-on activities.
